Miss Yee Shing received her ballet training at the tender age of 4 under the guidance and tutelage of Dance Space Academy and has completed the examination of RAD Advanced 2. She performed in various major dance productions varying from classical ballet to contemporary and her repertoire highlights with Dance Space include roles as the Cygnets in “The Swan Lake” (2012), Queen of the Willis, and Princess in” Giselle” (2015) as well as the Lilac Fairy and Finger Fairy in “The Sleeping Beauty” (2018). In 2011, she joined JS Dance Theatre as a part-time dance and performed in “Fragile”, a contemporary ballet dance work, and also performed in d'Next Artist project 2015 " Trace " choreographed by a Malaysian dance artist,Mr. Kyson Teo. In addition, Yee Shing was awarded 1st place at The Asian Grand Prix Award at the Dance Society of Malaysia (TDS) Solo Classical Ballet Competition in the year 2014.

 

In 2019, she was accepted into New York University Steinhardt Dance Education Program graduating in May 2020 with a Masters of Art for Teacher Dance in the Professions: American Ballet Theatre (ABT) Pedagogy. She is an ABT Certified Teacher in Pre-Primary through Level Seven of the ABT National Training Curriculum.

 

With more than 8 years of teaching experience, Miss Yee Shing has been shaping the lives of children and adults through dance, having taught at several private dance studios and international schools alike both locally and internationally. She envisions teaching and learning dance as a collaborative experience that should be made accessible to every person and both the teacher and students should be given an equal opportunity to explore and experience dance.
